Trust repair is commonly treated as a moral, emotional, or reputational exercise. We argue instead that it is a structural reconstruction problem. When deception fractures credibility, the failure is not merely interpersonal; it is a breakdown in predictive coherence, informational reliability, and system alignment. Effective repair therefore requires restoring low-entropy alignment between internal objectives, outward behavior, and stakeholder expectations.
Drawing on cognitive science, information theory, systems engineering, and organizational psychology, we formalize two core propositions: (1) Trust functions as a compression mechanism, reducing cognitive and social complexity by minimizing prediction error. (2) Integrity is a measurable state of alignment, analogous to data integrity in computational systems.
We extend these principles through the lens of Kintsugi, reframing repair as a process in which fracture is structurally integrated into a stronger and more transparent architecture, transforming failure into antifragility rather than concealment.
